Hello everyone. I've got another noob question. Is it possible to buy your
own Mac hardware and assemble the computer yourself, to save on the cost of
buying a factory machine?

Sorry Dan, Apple stridently restricts those who have access to their
motherboards and a few other key components. If you could get hold of
a mobo I imagine you could construct a Mac around it, but it's far
easier just to pick yourself up a turnkey Mac system.

You can buy a used mobo off ebay along with other parts, but a new
computer is generally easier and most often cheaper.

i question whether assembling a computer will save the op any $; however, if
you want to try your hand at becoming a hobbyist, there are plenty of
systems and components going for cheap and even free, if one knows where to
look.
With mac mainboards, however, you *may*, depending on the model originally
intended, be limited in terms of modified configurations (some offerred more
room for expansion than others)
